age is not very important in Japanese swords (witth the exception of very old ones - 1.000 years or more). What counts in newer swords is quality. The blade you have shown is probably not old (less than 150 years? which would be quite recent in terms of Japanese history), but it looks interesting as the HAMON shows an unusual regularity. 

An expert (we have some NMB members in Cal) should see this in hand, I think.
