Alaen Posted April 6, 2023 Author Report Posted April 6, 2023 Thank you Steve but still lost on this one Quote
SteveM Posted April 6, 2023 Report Posted April 6, 2023 I think everyone will be as lost as you are. Its not a mei, and I don't have any idea what it might be. 大海雪 (Great Sea Snow) makes no sense to me. It's not a surname or location name, it isn't a dedication, it isn't a date, and it doesn't sound like a very good "sword name". 大海雲 (Great Sea Cloud) is a possibility, but that is equally as opaque. Anyway, my best guess is that the inscription had some personal meaning to the owner, and unfortunately without any documentation/provenance that meaning is now lost on us. You say its a koto blade - has this been authenticated, or are you making an educated guess? 1 Quote
