I recently purchased this dogtag online to add to my collection. However the seller did not have a translation in the description section.

I was wondering if it was possible to understand what this tag says.  Bruce said to try this spot out so here I am.

Thanks for your time, I should have the tags Friday.

It's numbers and syllables, first picture is the correct way to look at it.

一一一一 1111

タ サ Ta Sa

一0 10

I would suggest posting the question and pictures over at War Relics Forum (WRF).  There are several collectors that could answer your inquiry.  To get you started in the right direction, I would suggest this evolution article by the late Nick Komiya.

The Evolution of Japanese Army Dog Tags (1894-1945)

Thanks for the link, I will look into that website and check them out. I have looked at the second website that you mentioned and I did pick up a few things. I have to figure out how to access the roster lists that he had posted. Then I believe I could possible find the regiment or unit and possibly the solider if there is an available roster list.
