Hello everyone.

I have a sword which, let's say is "Satsuma Rebellion" style sword.

Few items not quite right there..

I was thinking maybe to fix them:

- replace tsuba for a not damaged, period correct, plain one

- replace habaki, as the one that is on the sword just a half of 2 part piece

- fit sageo..

Basically this is it

Do it or leave it? Maybe other suggestions?

Regards

I think people were a bit too polite on these two swords.

These are extremely inexpensive items which have no potential.

Spending any money on them is entertaining but pointless.

Of course it realise that. I should start somewhere.

Hands on experience for a beginner is more than  great.

I have learnt a lot already with these 2 swords, so few hundreds I spent on them were  totally worth it.

Dear Vitaly.

Just in case you don't know this, each habaki is specific to each sword, you will almost certainly not find one that will fit so you would need to have one made for your blade.  Add to that that it won't necessarily fit the saya and you have quite a skilled job on your hands, (or in someone else's).  It is often suggested that certain swords are not worth spending money on but I can understand the desire to see it in better shape.

Why not just give it a sageo and live with it for a bit?  In a year you might feel differently about it.

All the best.

Hi Geraint!

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it a lot!

Seller of the habaki has supplied pictures with all possible measurements, (which are virtually identical to ones I need)

So fingers crossed, it will fit.
