Kurikata Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 For sure it is a late 19th Kozuka pURchased has being signed by Seimin (Unno Shomin School) but I have my doubts. Your views please! Quote
SteveM Posted February 21, 2023 Report Posted February 21, 2023 I have doubts, too. It says 正民 (Shōmin, or could be read as Seimin), but there is no such smith listed in Wakayama. The disciple of Unno Shōmin used the kanji 正珉 (also read as Shōmin) which uses the same basic root of 民, but adds a small 王 radical, which the signature on your kozuka doesn't have. Plus, he was a largely Shōwa-era smith, so not very old pieces (and I'm guessing heavily skewed to tsuba, with not so many kozuka, if any). Meikan more? 1 1 Quote
Kurikata Posted February 21, 2023 Author Report Posted February 21, 2023 Thank you Steve. I looked at Kinko Meikan and Haynes but not tsubako are listed under Shomin or Seimin with my kozuka mei. Another mistery (one more)! By the way you deserve the other side of the kozuka! 1 Quote
