I need to get my Nihonto up to someone who will be making me a shirasaya for my sword, but as I live hundreds of miles away I need to find a courier who is trusted and can also carry my sword in a legally compliant way. Anyone got any contacts details ? as I don’t want my irreplaceable family heirloom lost, damaged or removed by the polic because the courier did not comply with the 2019 act.

Would be a lot cheaper and safer to deliver it yourself

If it matters so much you will have to avoid the larger couriers like parcelforce

Private self employed couriers can be expensive, only ever used one and he charged £1 a mile.

I would look for a private courier in your area

Good advice. What price “peace of mind”? I have had terrible experiences with Parcelforce. Even with tracked services things go walkabout….delivered to the wrong door….or mysteriously disappear. Local to me a courier has just managed to “lose” a tracked greenhouse!!!!!…….maybe it’ll turn up in a different garden…….I have been told that couriers are being infiltrated by criminal gangs. That’s scary.

No faith in them Colin, whatever i post, I'm prepared to lose, sadly

I’ve actually got to face the same dilemma soon. I have several swords getting close to polishing and shirasaya etc which I haven’t had to face since Mishina Kenji worked in the UK…..a long time ago!
