April Posted February 16, 2023 Report Posted February 16, 2023 Hello I’m new here and new to Japanese Samurai Swords im looking for any info on this sword that was late fathers these are pictures BEFORE he sent it to Japan for restoration I haven’t taken new pics of it because I’m afraid to touch it as I know nothing about handling these swords. The Last picture is of a signature on the bottom of the beautiful storage box the Sword is in, the box maker I assume just looking to see if recognized? Quote
Geraint Posted February 16, 2023 Report Posted February 16, 2023 Dear April. Welcome to NMB! Here is another thread which discusses this smith, (as well as quite a lot of other stuff). It is interesting that this too has an inscription naming the person for whom the sword was made. If you scroll down a bit you will find a link from Grey to a care and handling guide. Once you are familiar with those things we would all love to see photographs of the restored sword. I can't throw any light on the box signature but if it coincides with the time your Father sent the sword to Japan then it is probably the maker. All the best. 1 Quote

Expand Hi Geraint thank you for the link and info, I did try but the link no longer works I’m looking to have an updated appraisal as I would like to sell it as I can do no justice tothis beautiful piece of history but have no idea where to start looking for that. I will take pictures of the sword (restored) and post. Quote
