KYU-GUNTO question

Hello everyone!

 

I am "building" an uniform display. I have Artillery Captain uniform, Meiji 19 type. Wanted to have matching sward. Not nessecarily with blade,  koshirae with tsunagi will do me at the moment.

So I got one.

My questions are:

 

1.  According to backstrap design this one is for company officers. Is that correct?

2. Backstrap has mon - is it possible to tell a name?

3. Black tassel. is it supposed to be there or golden one should be used?

4. I have a belt with blue backing. I believe it is also  for  company officers. Am I right?

5. I guess the metal ring on the belt goes onto that strap on the uniform? Kinda makes sense but I am not sure....

The backstrap is for company grade officers.  I'm sure someone will help soon with the tassel.

Finally, could I get a good shot of that latch release button?  John has a thread tracking sakura release buttons.  Or you could post it for us, yourself, here - Sakura Chuso Release Button

The belt and tassel are both correct for company grade officer. The gold elongated ball is correct too, but used more in parades. The black acorn ball was used in the field.

No, that is the standard IJA parade belt buckle.
