TenguSan Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 Hello All, 1st post here. I recently acquired this blade and am wondering what others think of age, manufacture, legitimacy, etc Any info is appreciated. John 2 Quote
Ed Harbulak Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 Welcome John to NMB. It would help considerably if you could provide a photograph of the entire blade without the habaki and with the point at the top of the picture. The habaki looks like a two piece habaki, but you only have half of it. Measurements of the blade would also be very helpful. Otherwise, the blade is in good polish and appears to be O-suriage. I'm sure others will provide more insight. Quote
Okan Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 Welcome John...Like Ed said, please share some more pictures. Might be a Yamato blade.. Quote

TenguSan Posted February 7, 2023 Author Report Posted February 7, 2023 Thanks all! here are a few more pictures including without the habaki Quote
Rivkin Posted February 8, 2023 Report Posted February 8, 2023 It looks like its very straight which is basically Kambun shinto. Not too many suguha/Yamato smiths at the time. Its not Kii school for many reasons, but can be Owari. Quote
DoTanuki yokai Posted February 8, 2023 Report Posted February 8, 2023 Can we see the Hamon in the Boshi ? Also a good picture of the Nioiguchi could help. The blade is straight but it is shortned and the Nakago got a good amount of Sori itself. Maybe it was Koshizori, so I would guess the end of Kamakura or Nanbokucho period. Quote
