ckaiserca Posted February 5, 2023 Report Posted February 5, 2023 When I bought this sun-nobi tanto it arrived dressed in koshirae without a shirasaya. I sent the blade to Tim Pepin at samuraisword.com and he arranged the crafting of a shirasaya for it. I also had a tsunagi made so I can display the koshirae. It took a while, but I think it turned out well. I am glad to be able to properly store my tanto. 7 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted February 6, 2023 Report Posted February 6, 2023 Shows you care for the blade. It's extra special to get patterns like that in the wood. Congratulations. 1 Quote

Bencld Posted February 7, 2023 Report Posted February 7, 2023 Looks like what we call fiddleback. Comes from the base of a tree that over a long time the weight compresses the tree into these wavy patterns. Dressed in our hardwoods here looks very nice. Lovely shira saya btw! 1 Quote
