When I bought this sun-nobi tanto it arrived dressed in koshirae without a shirasaya. I sent the blade to Tim Pepin at samuraisword.com and he arranged the crafting of a shirasaya for it. I also had a tsunagi made so I can display the koshirae.

It took a while, but I think it turned out well. I am glad to be able to properly store my tanto.

Looks like what we call fiddleback. Comes from the base of a tree that over a long time the weight compresses the tree into these wavy patterns. Dressed in our hardwoods here looks very nice.
