Amon Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Hi Gents! Out of curiosity does any one have any information about Showa blades with a W stamp on the nakago? I have only seen a picture of the W stamp in modern Japanese swords and swordsmiths by Leon and Hiroko Kapp. Regards, Quote

Rich S Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 IN Slough's book, he states on the Mantetsu blade pages, that the "W" stamp was on blades made by Takehisa and Haruhisa. Also found on Namban pistol magazines made in Nagoya. Rich S Quote

I think Rich means "Nambu" magazines, though a Namban pistol magazine would be quite interesting! It would let in too much mud and sand, but I doubt that would affect the accuracy of the Nambu anyways. Brian Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 As someone who owns a Type 14, Type 94 and Baby Nambu, I take exception to that typo. Nothing foreign about those nasty but interesting designs Brian Quote
Rich S Posted July 14, 2009 Report Posted July 14, 2009 Oops, please pardon my advancing senility :-) Nambu, not namban. Rich S Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Also listed on Dr. Stein's undocumented swordsmith's page for Yoshiharu and Yoshitani http://home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/showa.htm Quote
Rich S Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 Hmm, you'd thnk I'd know what was on my own website See the above message about advancing senility. Rich Quote
