DannoTheManno Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 Hi there, as the title states would anyone know what type of ww2 Japanese katana this is, I am not sure if it is Type 94 or 98, I don't own it physically so I can't take off the Tsuka, Blade is 69.5 cm, tip to tsuba is 71.5 cm, scabbard is 76cm thanks Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 Looks to be an early sword, likely Type 94. Hard to tell what the blade is, may be an old blade with Bo-Hi or an Arsenal blade. Nice there is a Mon on the Kabutogane. 1 Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 It is a family crest or "Kamon" rendered in silver and applied to the top of the handle. There are thousands of variations of these Kamon. If this is from an auction house you should be able to request more pictures of the tang and Mon. Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 Difficult to say, somewhere between 1000-2000USD from what is shown here. There is a chance it is something nice under the handle, given the good quality mounts. 1 Quote
Brian Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 That groove/hi reminds me of one on an arsenal Showato. Just guy feel, but the rounded lines don't feel like a well cut one, more machine made. Guessing. But I wouldn't put much money into it. Bid on it as a mass produced sword and hope for better. 1 Quote
Stephen Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 Book'em Danno...er bid em if fare price. Clean units like this just dont pop-up. Bonus is not machine made blade. 1 Quote
