Bruce Pennington Posted January 30, 2023 Report Posted January 30, 2023 3 possibly ivory menugi. 2 on one side, 1 on the other. One looks like tensho, or seal script. Thanks guys! Edit: I just realized a couple kanji are obscured. I'll see if they can slide out without any trouble. If so, I'll update. WELL!! Turns out there was a good deal more underneath, except for that one ! @Stegel Quote

The 2nd and 3rd sound like plug-in jacks/locations on the device, and the 'filament' one was for the power cord/source. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted February 8, 2023 Author Report Posted February 8, 2023 Harrison987, over on this Wehrmacht-awards thread, posted this radio. You can see similar labels. Focus isn't good enough to see if any match exactly, but it at least shows the radio idea is on the right track. Quote
DTM72 Posted February 8, 2023 Report Posted February 8, 2023 @Bruce Pennington so these labels/tags were placed as menuki on a tsuka? Quote
Brian Posted February 8, 2023 Report Posted February 8, 2023 Yeah, often they would use whatever was convenient. Coins, medallions, anything that was handy. Quote

I probably should go look in your Mantetsu thread lol It's actually owned by Stegel. Seller doesn't ship internationally, so he sends them to me and I send them on to Erns. So, I got to play with it for a while! I've posted it on the Manchurian Rinji Seishiki Sword thread, as it's fittings are fairly rare. You can see pics of it there. Quote
