As always,  members are requested to bring in items from their collections for discussion and appreciation.  The mission of our club is the preservation, study and appreciation of perhaps the most beautiful object constructed of steel; the Japanese sword and its accessories.  This mission is accomplished by the sharing of these items by our members at our meetings.

it's a very advanced and nice feature.

TBH....the move to doing everything on cellular is the bane of my existence and keeps me up at night
Every time I want to change something or use some feature, I see it's not practical on a cellphone. I could make a lot of stuff work, but then the layout would be horrible. Aaaaaaaaaah!
Can everyone just go back to desktops or laptops please? Even tablets make me cry. :rotfl:

Sorry setting in front PC gives strains in many places, laptops causes of juggling, soooo after working in the yard is too easy for the lazy old guy to hold a little square 6x4 in my hand.

So nope

To move this post to be back on topic, the New York Token Kai regular scheduled meeting yesterday was a very enjoyable experience. The meeting was well attended, the weather was genuinely nice.  If you live anywhere with a 3–4-hour bus or train trip away from New York City I would recommend attending a club meeting. Highlights of club meeting included a presentation by Markus Sesko on the swordsmiths of late Rai School of the Yamashiro Tradition and Michael Shane experience on this trip to Japan to doing various Japanese sword related actives. I brough the two new acquisitions to my collection and one tsuba that had recently received a Tokubetsu Hozon appraisal paper from the NBTHK. Check the website of the New York Token Kai for all future club meetings (direct link below).

Folks, yes, there are books, videos, and online nihonto educational sites. However, there is simply no substitute for hands on study when it comes to nihonto and sword furniture. Long ago I was roped into attending an eye opening nihonto sword study group meeting and have never looked back. Can't recommend attending and joining a study group/club enough! The first good sword you find, or the first bad sword you don't buy, will cover the price of admission.

The Japanese recommend learning by studying the best nihonto that you can possibly see (which is the opposite of studying fakes). In that way bad swords (and fittings), will hurt your eyes. Club events provide that opportunity.
