Jay M Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Local has a group of swords for sale. Some look too good and some very rough. Any help in identifying is appreciated. These are the only pics I have right now. Can get more tomorrow. He wants $100-$200 each think he sold the saber with black handle but I’m courious about the rough looking katana suspect the first two are fake and wants $150. The single gold color he wants $200 and $100 for the bottom four Quote
ChrisW Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Nothing there is worth your time I believe. The one "katana" looks like a Chinese fake to me. The others are either lodge/fraternal order swords (which really aren't worth it either) or are reproductions. Quote
vajo Posted January 12, 2023 Report Posted January 12, 2023 Pull out the blade from the "gunto" and look on the nakago. The rest looks like junk for me. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted January 13, 2023 Report Posted January 13, 2023 Agree with all, but out of pure curiosity I'd have to see the nakago, if I were there. The gunto is horrible though. Looks like cast iron fuchi and koiguchi. And what's with that same'/ito? It' looks like one-piece plastic or something, separated from the wooden handle: Quote
Jay M Posted January 13, 2023 Author Report Posted January 13, 2023 Going take a closer look. Close ups posted soon Quote

Jay M Posted January 13, 2023 Author Report Posted January 13, 2023 thin sheets of copper. Rest is brass or copper. Very poor detail 1 Quote
John C Posted January 13, 2023 Report Posted January 13, 2023 Well, there's your answer. It just got worse with the made-up chicken scratch. No reason to look at it any further. I would pass on all of it. John C. 1 Quote
