Interesting tidbit about the tsuba with 2 small holes.  Haven't heard of that before, nor seen a tsuba with such holes.

Dear Bruce, it's called udenuki-no-ana. You can find many examples if you google it.

With a Daimyō name like Yamanouchi I suspected a Shikoku, Tosa connection, so the Satsuma angle was unexpected for me too.

Probable why it difficult to find a quality Satsuma Daito there all in his collection.

Well, pretty much the market has been cornered by him, Tanobe-san, and Bill Miller here in Georgia.

I'm not even that into Satsuma, but it took me a long time to get a higher level Satsuma tsuba. I've heard from Bill, Darcy, and two other collectors that Tanobe-san has some exceptional examples.
