vajo Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 Want to share those pics. In the military thread in facebook someone ask for help what kind of koshirae it is. Some answers are that this is a faked or assembled after war koshirae. My guess is that it is a navy civillian employee koshirae in very good condition. I asked the owner to share his pictures. Those koshirae in such a condition are some rare, so i think it is interesting. What you think? Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 Wow, Chris! I think you are right on, about this. Somebody cleaned the heck out of the fuchi, but everything else looks legit. I've seen those swivel haikan before and the tight stitching on the saya leather looks period correct. 1 Quote
vajo Posted January 8, 2023 Author Report Posted January 8, 2023 Cleaned or silver-plated and cleaned. I don't know Bruce. Quote
MarcoUdin Posted January 8, 2023 Report Posted January 8, 2023 I would argue there is no way of knowing 100%. But if everything fits nice and tight together then I don't see why it can't be war time. 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted January 9, 2023 Report Posted January 9, 2023 Chris and I were tossing around the idea that this may have been assembled by the souvenir team after the war. Reasons - very thin evidence, but you'll notice the menugi is Army, not Navy, yet the ito is black cloth and the fittings are gilded. So we have mixed Army, Navy, and Gunzoku fittings, stadard fare for the PX souvenir. Interesting possibility! 1 Quote
vajo Posted January 9, 2023 Author Report Posted January 9, 2023 PX Kai Gunto Other civillian koshirae look something more beefy. And Fuchi/Kashira is made from copper not from another metal. So we thought that the Koshirae could made after war from the same company which assambled the PX swords. ---- original sakura blossom civillian employee koshirae. 1 Quote
