I can't see it being an incense burner it has no ashtray.

Well to add to the mystery of just what this is, one has turned up before but with a different tsuba design. Posted August 17 by Glen. So I guess two means they are not unique?

Top row, third right was used as a template for the cupboard below. There were another six tsuba in a drawer. One of these was carp and waterfall, which was used as the other template. All were covered in a protective barrier of grime and nicotine. Unfortunately I don't have the top section or the tsuba.

Hello all!

Well, this may be slightly off topic, but this is a “Tsuba in my everyday (or almost every day) objects-the culture of Tsuba”!

This is a pendant (necklace) I made from an antique tsuba and attached a piece of jade and amber to it.

The amber has broken over the years (by about half of its original length), but it is still hanging in there!

I chose a lightweight tsuba, so it doesn’t pull at my neck.

I wear it often; it makes me feel closer to my collection!

4 Goshuin stamps
"I previously wrote on my blog that I received Toshiro Honekui's stamp at Toyokuni Shrine in Kyoto, but I didn't know that there are 3 other stamps, and when you put 4 stamps together you can make the handle of a sword's guard.

When you look at it this way, it's pretty spectacular.

There are things that appeal to you, such as colors and designs.

There is a fox enshrined in Kogitsunemaru's stamp, but it is probably the Fushimi Inari Myojin shrine that gave it its name.

If you look at it after knowing the origin of that statement, it feels different.

I don't know much about swords, so perhaps the other three figures have some meaning as well.

It's also fun to research things like this.

It looks like we'll still be in a period where we can't let our guard down due to the state of emergency declaration and the epidemic prevention law, but I hope the day will come when we can visit the goshuin stamps without hesitation." - From 2020?

"Patek Philippe has also introduced two five-piece Calatrava limited editions with hand-engraved dials depicting the tsuba, or hand guard on a traditional Japanese sword. Historically, tsuba were often decorated with floral motifs, as is the case with the dials of the ref. 5089G-124 and 5089G-125 “Tsuba – Oranges and Flowers”.

The dials are crafted of solid white gold and yellow gold, respectively, and are engraved by hand. The bullet-like motif in the centre references the opening in the tsuba, through which the blade of the sword passes. Both references feature a white gold case with a hinged dust cover, revealing the cal. 240 inside."
