Bridges Posted January 6, 2023 Report Posted January 6, 2023 This is a beautiful katana from a seller I’ve done business with. I cannot afford this but I’m sure many of you will appreciate this beauty! https://warpathmilitaria.com/product/wwii-temple-dedication-Japanese-gendai-sword/ Quote
ROKUJURO Posted January 6, 2023 Report Posted January 6, 2023 Noah, how do you know this " Shingu-Zukuri blade " is being beautiful with these photos? 1 1 Quote
Bridges Posted January 6, 2023 Author Report Posted January 6, 2023 Hey Jean, beautiful is subjective and I don’t dabble much in traditional blades outside militaria so for me, the hamon is nice and the condition of the blade is immaculate. Do you think it’s fake? The nakago doesn’t appear to have active rust which leads me to believe it was cleaned hence, destroying collectible value. Just my two cents! 1 Quote
rebcannonshooter Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 Hey Noah, the "patina" on the tang is consistent with a Showa date, so no worries there. If Jimmy Hayashi did the polish you can rest assured that it is PERFECT! I've seen several of his polishes, and have a sword polished by him. So I'm sure its beautiful. I think what Jean is saying is that the photos are not very good to make a determination of how nice it is. Given the cost of one of his polishes and a new shirasaya the price of this sword is quite good. Tom M. 1 Quote
Bruno Posted January 11, 2023 Report Posted January 11, 2023 Noah you are correct. Nice blade, Hayashi is a good polisher. That polish, habaki, and shirasaya probably cost just about as much as they are asking for the sword. Looks nice. Quote
vajo Posted January 14, 2023 Report Posted January 14, 2023 Nice sword. Nothing wrong with it. 1 Quote
