I came across this Gendaito online by Baba Tsugukiyo who I've been coming across a lot recently while looking for Gendaitos. I was about to pull the trigger on this one, but the Mei is slightly different from the various examples online. Especially the second to last Kanji. I was wondering if anybody has any insight on it? The sword was looked at by Bill Tagg at one point as well who attributed it to him. I've attached pictures of the Mei and blade. Supposedly the Blade has a polishers mark as well.

After doing a little more research, I'm leaning towards genuine as only the first four Kanji are actually his name while the second to last Kanji is Tsukuru while most others have Saku instead by Tsugukiyo.

This looks authentic, generally speaking the Gendai that are faked are the big names like Gassan Sadakatsu, Yasukuni/Minatogawa, Ikkansai Shigetsugu etc etc. These will often have additional inscriptions stating they were made for famous WWII General/Admiral rank officers.

Subegh:

There is another Baba Tsugukiyo up for auction on the Sofe Design auction site. You might be able to compare the mei and other blade details with that one.

I actually have my eyes on that one as well :) It was the second to last Kanji that made me make this post
