singh13 Posted January 5, 2023 Report Posted January 5, 2023 (edited) I came across this Gendaito online by Baba Tsugukiyo who I've been coming across a lot recently while looking for Gendaitos. I was about to pull the trigger on this one, but the Mei is slightly different from the various examples online. Especially the second to last Kanji. I was wondering if anybody has any insight on it? The sword was looked at by Bill Tagg at one point as well who attributed it to him. I've attached pictures of the Mei and blade. Supposedly the Blade has a polishers mark as well. singh13 Posted January 5, 2023 Author Report Posted January 5, 2023 Some more notes from Bill Tagg Quote
singh13 Posted January 5, 2023 Author Report Posted January 5, 2023 After doing a little more research, I'm leaning towards genuine as only the first four Kanji are actually his name while the second to last Kanji is Tsukuru while most others have Saku instead by Tsugukiyo. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted January 5, 2023 Report Posted January 5, 2023 This looks authentic, generally speaking the Gendai that are faked are the big names like Gassan Sadakatsu, Yasukuni/Minatogawa, Ikkansai Shigetsugu etc etc. These will often have additional inscriptions stating they were made for famous WWII General/Admiral rank officers. 1 Quote
