Mark S. Posted December 29, 2022 Report Posted December 29, 2022 Can ANYONE explain to me how this blade is at over $200??? https://www.ebay.com/itm/404063486220?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=XPZXHWDtRNO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=6jpyya7kske&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Quote
Seth Posted December 29, 2022 Report Posted December 29, 2022 Old hand made blade with SOME flaws, that was my favorite part. More money than sense? They think the damage is from a battle during the war? Who knows, but at the same time I just spent $10 on a chicken sandwich from a fast-food joint so I won't judge. 1 2 Quote

Mark Posted December 29, 2022 Report Posted December 29, 2022 years ago i had a customer who bought damaged blades from me. i asked what he wanted them for, he said he was buying them for a Japanese friend, they used the steel when they needed old metal to repair swords and they used them to make new swords as they wanted the old steel 4 1 Quote

Beat me to it! Could also be a case of someone simply not understanding how Japanese swords work and what makes a fatal flaw fatal. Quote

Expand Or...When grandson takes grandfathers wall hanger and decides to swing it onto the top of a chin-link fence thinking he will cut through it like a light saber. After it takes a chunk out of the blade, just put it back and play dumb! Actually had a guy stop by my table at a gun show and wanted to sell me a sword like this. The story above is what happened to his katana. I didn't make him an offer and he said he would be happy with $1000 since it is an antique with actual battle damage. good luck buddy. Quote
John C Posted December 30, 2022 Report Posted December 30, 2022 There are probably some forged-in-fire type folks who would try to make a tanto out of it. John C. 1 Quote
