Dear members,

this is classic Akasaka design. Enclosed by the rather thick, lobed Mimi, the grass fronds bend and flow with drops of water illuminated by a distant crescent moon. The patina of the steel is very fine with a great silky feel and shine associated with good Akasaka pieces.
A well-known collector suggested that this tsuba is an unsigned tsuba by Tadashige, who was one of the highest rated makers of the Akasaka school. His iron is excellent and is often confused with Higo.
The marks indicative of this are the sloping Sepa Dai area into the Nakago Ana and the style of the punches above and below.
Very fine work and a great find for any collection.

Size: 7.0 cm x 6.5 cm

Provenance AZ Freeman Collection and D. Ingham Collection

Price: EUR 850.00 (reasonable offers will be considered) plus shipping costs

Kindest regards
