andreYes Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Please help me to identify the mei on this tsuba. The seller told me that it's "Efu-ju Masanori". But the last kanji looks different than in "Masanori" mentioned in "Tsuba An Aesthetic Study"... Quote
andreYes Posted June 15, 2009 Author Report Posted June 15, 2009 The seller's reading is correct. Thank you! Could you write here the kanji for "Masanori" please? Quote
andreYes Posted June 16, 2009 Author Report Posted June 16, 2009 Sorry for bothering you again, I have one more question about this name. In the "Tsuba An Aesthetic Study" Masanori from the Bushu school is mentioned. His name is written like this: Is he a different person, or it could be another writing of this name? Quote
Nobody Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Is he a different person, or it could be another writing of this name? The mei also reads Masanori, and he is most likely another Masanori. Quote
Rich T Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Andre, if you happen to be able to look in "The Index of Japanese Sword Fittings and Associated Artists" you will be dumb struck by the amount of Masanori's out there. As Koichi san noted, they both read Masanori, though the one you listed usually signs in Soshou so it is probably a different guy anyway. Cheers Richard Quote
