So with 20-30 yrs on and off interst I’m looking for something nice in civilian Koshirea for not to much money! So ok that sounds like a cleeshae but aren’t we all.

so I found this at auction and have been advised against it for the fact I’m likely to find better in this section.

so any help is appreciated!

Hi Lee, I have several swords available.   What is your criteria?

Hi David, thank you for your reply, 1st I’m of the understanding that importing to the Uk is problematic if not very difficult due to our uneducated boarder force! So I’d be extremely sceptical about attempting to import!

where we would go from here I’m not sure?

I wonder who advised you about not buying the sword. It looks good value to me but what do I know. I wonder what the tang looked like

Buying from the NMB is very safe but it just depends on what you are looking for

Hi Greg, it was an amalgamation of many concerns that put me off and a few conversations pointing out pro’s and cons I decided against in favour of waiting until I’ve attended a To-Ken society meeting we’re I hope to gain more insight.

I’ve waited 30 years a little longer won’t hurt.

NMB ? What’s this.

I did Grev. Auctions are a bit dangerous for beginners and he would bid compulsively..Also he didn't see the sword, it is out of polish which would be harder to study for a beginner. NMB is safer.

Oh now I feel daft! Of course it is….

took a look at Bonham’s today, one nice piece but in traditional auction style only one photo. How close do they let you get at viewings? Handling?
KissKi Okan was of significant aid in advising and more to the point reminding me of cautions required with such purchases! Dont think I’d have bid compulsively but I can understand these things getting away with some people.
but as discussed I feel one of the better options is to wait and see if members at the To-Ken meetings can help which I’m sure they will.

very appreciate anyones help and guidance, thing is you can read every book available and accumulate a wealth of theory knowledge but if you don’t get to see handle examples it’s hard to put the knowledge to something tangible.
the 1st and only To-Ken meeting I recently attended ( only a small turnout due to Covid and train strikes) however I learnt a great deal more not just from a superb presentation but 2 very fine swords the secretary kindly brought to show.
