Tensho Posted October 26, 2022 Report Posted October 26, 2022 I'm looking to pick up a copy of this and wondering if anyone can chime in on a couple questions. 1) Is it really worth the price? $100+ 2) Does it have a lot of details about Yari, or is it basic info that can be found online. 3) There seems to be 2copies. The original with a Samurai holding Naginata and a newer version with a bare Naginata blade and battle in background. Are these identical still? Thank you. Quote
Vermithrax16 Posted October 26, 2022 Report Posted October 26, 2022 The book is filled with great Samurai history regarding use of spears. Chapter 9 covers quite a bit. But it's not a book about forging or steel material. Worth the $$? It depends I guess. I enjoyed the book. I don't think I paid $100 though. Quote
Tensho Posted October 26, 2022 Author Report Posted October 26, 2022 Thanks for the reply. Is this the copy you have? Quote
Brian Posted October 27, 2022 Report Posted October 27, 2022 Japanese Spears I think is the updated version of Japanese Polearms. Although there is not a lot of very technical info, and not a lot of photos, there is very little out there on the subject and that makes it a must have for anyone interested in the subject. I would guess that's about the going price. I am selling a copy of Japanese Spears for a friend locally for $60, but getting it anywhere outside of South Africa would be a pain and expensive. 1 Quote
Toryu2020 Posted October 27, 2022 Report Posted October 27, 2022 Both are excellent books. Bugei Marketplace has NIHON NO MEISO on sale right now on Facebook if you're interested... -t Quote

I skipped out on buying it for $50 while thinking I'd have no interest in it. Now that my interest has broadened I wish I had bought it. Thanks for all the replies. I'll try to snag one in the states. Quote
