kissakai Posted October 22, 2022 Report Posted October 22, 2022 I've never seen a straight blade of this era! Quote
lonely panet Posted October 22, 2022 Report Posted October 22, 2022 from the horrific pics, i would guess its a suriage kanbun sword mounted in type 98 mounts 2 Quote
Swords Posted October 22, 2022 Author Report Posted October 22, 2022 I read about another sword that is a kanbun and it’s not as curved Anyway Provided it’s a kanbun sword I was thinking of getting it polished than I would hav 2100 into it but would a be beautiful Sword My next question is it worth 2100 after polish? Can’t really tell how good it is anyway from these images. It’s mumei, suriage and a rather awkward sugata…..possibly not the most desirable item. More important is to realise that a polish can uncover all sorts of flaws…blisters etc…..so it’s a bit of a gamble. Eyes wide open and fingers crossed if you go for it. Good luck if you do! DoTanuki yokai Posted October 22, 2022 Report Posted October 22, 2022 There are always good deals here https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/forum/6-for-sale-or-trade/ Sometimes you will have to wait for something to come up. Do you look for something special ? From your posts I’m not sure what you looking for ? Quote
Wolfmanreid Posted October 23, 2022 Report Posted October 23, 2022 Have a simple black koshirae made for it, find a square tsuba that fits and then sell it as a genuine “ninjato”! You’ll probably make a mint :D Quote
Swords Posted October 23, 2022 Author Report Posted October 23, 2022 Actually right now I’m looking for a Navy Not stainless Gendaito Older but not necessary has to be in excellent condition 2000-3000 range Quote

For the past month you've been asking about swords on this message board. You keep posting swords from ebay and asking our opinion or asking for translation etc..You are looking for a sword in "excellent condition" for 2-3k, yet you keep posting out of polish swords from ebay..asking opinions..and then you say you are not looking for this one, you are looking for a navy "not stainless" gendaito. If so, why are you wasting others time? Something really doesn't make sense here.. Also a lot of people here advised you to get some books first and learn...Then you said you've been dealing swords for 7 years.. Are you ok? Quote
Nihontocollector752 Posted October 23, 2022 Report Posted October 23, 2022 What is up with all the crap pictures and lack of research with OPs on this forum....surely there is a thread that states how to post pictures for an informative discussion.... Quote
Swords Posted October 24, 2022 Author Report Posted October 24, 2022 I think you would make a good private investigator since you think you have me all figured out I thought this was about assistance and discussion??? I was asked what I was looking for If I had a choice I would pick Navy Dosnt mean I don’t have other interest so I leave my options open Collecting and discussing Japanese swords is my passion and helps me cope in this crazy world Yes I probably hav abused the forum too much lately so I’ll read some more books 2 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted October 24, 2022 Report Posted October 24, 2022 Steve, I've enjoyed the learning process from all your threads. Not wasted, if you ask me. And many days, there is not much going on anyway. 1 1 Quote
Swords Posted October 24, 2022 Author Report Posted October 24, 2022 What the hell dose it matter how many swords I posted or what I like !! I agree it’s a good learning experience for everyone If someone doesn’t like it than keep their opinions to themselves!! Quote
