Chriso Posted October 21, 2022 Report Posted October 21, 2022 Hi all, I have had this copper Tsuba for a number of years now but I am no closer to determining its providence. Would anyone like to have a bash at it. Personally, I think it is quite nice Cheers Chris Quote
Chriso Posted October 21, 2022 Author Report Posted October 21, 2022 Thanks for that Jean, I was a bit worried in case it wasn't. Cheers Chris Quote
Chriso Posted October 22, 2022 Author Report Posted October 22, 2022 Yep got that Jean, just love auto correct text, Unfortunately I cannot edit at this stage, and yes, I didn't pick it up at the time of posting. I will now go and write it 100 times. Many thanks Chris 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 23, 2022 Report Posted October 23, 2022 Let's negotiate: 150? By the way, I think it is a KINKO TSUBA of not so much age (MEIJI JIDAI?) with KATABAMI and HANABISHI decoration in KO-SUKASHI technique. The name of the four-petal flower (on top) eludes me right now. The patina looks a bit strange (like painted-on), but that may be an effect of the photo. 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted October 23, 2022 Report Posted October 23, 2022 Jean is KARAHANA OR KARABANA the right word you are looking for? "Chinese Flower" [most have five petals but as a kamon some have four.] Karabana (or karahana) design on Japanese printed fabric featuring mon heraldic crests Also seen as a squared off version. The actual flower “Four-petalled” leaves attached to the persimmon 2 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 23, 2022 Report Posted October 23, 2022 Thank you Dale, that is possible, it might well be a four-petal version of Karabana (Japanese crests of imaginary flower). The experts will probably know. 1 Quote
