tomb_lin Posted October 3, 2022 Author Report Posted October 3, 2022 Thank you Ray I was told it was a civilian blade not military is that correct (?) Showa period (?) Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 3, 2022 Report Posted October 3, 2022 You would need to show the koshirae. The blade itself is a showa-to (refer to the cherry blossom stamp). It is not a traditionally made sword (not a gendaito). Quote
tomb_lin Posted October 3, 2022 Author Report Posted October 3, 2022 The fitting seemed to be pieced not original to this blade…appreciate your help Quote
tomb_lin Posted October 3, 2022 Author Report Posted October 3, 2022 https://new.uniquejapan.com/signed-edo-period-fujiwara-kaneyuki-wakizashi-with-delightful-mountings/ is this the same maker (?) Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 3, 2022 Report Posted October 3, 2022 Roger, very probably not. We need to see your blade in full and in detail pictures for a better evaluation, but the first impression is that it is a WWII military blade. KOSHIRAE was often changed, so no great information can be expected from it. Quote
tomb_lin Posted October 3, 2022 Author Report Posted October 3, 2022 Ok here’s some photos of it some measurements of the blade and how I received it. The tsuka to tsuba fit shows the gap and the tsuka is about 10in . Tha saya was horrible Quote
ROKUJURO Posted October 6, 2022 Report Posted October 6, 2022 Roger, to my eyes, everything confirms that it is a WWII sword. The gap between handle and HABAKI should be filled with SEPPA, but first you have to be sure that the TSUKA fits the blade well. Quote
