Brett D Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 I just picked this up and was looking to get some history on it(if any). The more I look into it the more I think it's fake. Someone prove me wrong. Thanks, Brett Quote

Stephen Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Really no need to show the blade my friend, if it walks like a duck..... Quote
Guido Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Stephen is right: the pic of the "Mei" alone is sufficient to identify it as a Chinese fake. Quote
loiner1965 Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 ........ i was thinking on the lines of someone most recently signing the tang themselves. ok i shut the door behind me Quote
Brett D Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 Any reasons I can bring up when I confront the guy that sold it to me? Quote
Amon Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Hi Brett! Everything, it's chinese. You can bring up the blade, the mei, the yasurime, the fittings, the ito on the tsuka, and many many more. I hope everything turns out well for you in the end. Regards, Quote
Brett D Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 Thanks for the help guys. I brought it back to the guy and got a full refund. He was very nice about it and seemed to have no idea about it being fake. My search continues for a Japanese sword, only this time Ill do more research before I buy. Thanks, Brett Quote
Ted Tenold Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 That's good news Brett. The seller is to be commended for refunding your money without making trouble. Here's a link to an article I wrote. Please have a look at it and keep it in mind for the future. I hope it helps. http://www.nbthk-ab.org/articles/Gentle-Advice.pdf Quote
