shan Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 This was hidden within the material of a pouch that a menuki came in.there is page after page of it. I would love to know if any of it is relevant and if anyone can recognise the seal. thanks shan Quote
SteveM Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Hello Shan, I'll take a stab at this... I can't really read much (any) of the writing, but it almost looks like some sort of shop ledger; the way there are certain lines that end at a specific point on the paper, terminating in the same repetitive kanji. You sometimes see things like this in antique shops here in Japan (I guess people use them as interior decoration). The only thing is that usually these old ledgers and inventory lists have the thickness of, say, a telephone book, and are long and thin - like the ones in this photo... so I could be wrong on this. Bugyotsuji Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 My feeling is it is something along the lines Steve says above. A merchant's ledger etc. Often used for linings. Quote
