kanemoto Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 Hello everyone, I need help translating a signature. I bought a wakizashi at an auction. An untouched piece on which nothing has been changed or removed. Unfortunately I do not manage to translate the signature. Shu ju Masa, the first and last I do not get out, I hope that I have recognized the rest correctly. I would be glad about an answer. Uwe 1 Quote
Toryu2020 Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 Wow, so one would expect a Seki signature based on that hamon but looks like; Sasshu ju Masachika Just a guess, that last character is indeed hard to read... -t 2 Quote
kanemoto Posted August 30, 2022 Author Report Posted August 30, 2022 Thank you very much for your help. If the blade is polished, this is certainly a beautiful wakizashi. Quote

I was able to inspect the sword yesterday in hand. As I saw the hamon, I immediately called it “Mino/Seki” until I removed the tsuka…😮 Clearly gimei 😁 1 Quote
