Shodan Posted August 28, 2022 Report Posted August 28, 2022 I purchased this Wakizashi at a local knife show. The shirasaya is newer. The Habaki is solid silver. Mei reads, Yasutada with a kao. Not sure if Kao is the correct term. I found Yasutada listed on Shoshin. There was little information. Other then he is WW2 era smith.I found this blade as is. Previous owner had it polished and a new shirasaya and a solid silver habaki made.Seeking any information on the lineage. Who this smith is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blade length 23 3/4" Hada is a beautiful tight Itame. There appears to be areas of Masamei. Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted August 29, 2022 Report Posted August 29, 2022 I just checked Slough and Sesko, and neither have a WWII Yasutada listed. There is one posted in the oshigata page of JSI, same kao (that's a good term.) http://japaneseswordindex.com/oshigata/yasutada.jpg Quote
