robinalexander Posted August 27, 2022 Report Posted August 27, 2022 This picture is being used as an example in the sale of a Company grade tassel on Ebay. I find two things unusual ... 1. The way the tassel is tied to this sword, and 2. What do you think that is, tied around the top of the tsuka? Rob Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted August 27, 2022 Report Posted August 27, 2022 How unusual! Never seen anything like it, nor have I seen a tassel tied that way. Looks like the shot was taken at 11:02 am though! 1 Quote
SteveM Posted August 27, 2022 Report Posted August 27, 2022 The caption says the soldier has kept something from an unnamed staff officer who "died with honor" on the front line at Akyab (Myanmar, close to the Indian border), and has wrapped it around his own tsuka. Maybe a tooth or teeth? That's what it looks like, anyway. Probably kept it as a talisman or good luck charm. (The names of both soldiers have been censored.) 3 1 Quote
