Guest nickn Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 hello i bought this sword today its cutting edge is 29 1/8" and thats after being shortened by 4" !. it has very little sori the hamon looks typical osaka shinto to me with lots of pearls above the hamon can anyone tell me which nobuyoshi it is and if the mei is genuine thanks nick Quote
mdiddy Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Hey Nick, Can you show some pics of the blade too? That would help answer your questions I think. Quote
Jacques Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Hi, Echizen Nobuyoshi, He is the third son of Yamashiro Shinano no Kami Nobuyoshi. worked in Kanbun/Enpo. Genuine? lack of kiku mon, wrong kanji spacing...i'm not sure. Quote
Guest nickn Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 thank jacques fujishiro does show nobuyoshi mei without kiku mon i have a mumei katana papered to this man that shows very similar workmanship but with a less flamboyant hamon could the fact that this sword is large explain the mei spaceing? Brian Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Up to 5 images in ONE post please guys. Makes it much easier and neater than 5 separate posts. Upload instructions in the usual place. Brian Quote
mdiddy Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Here is a mei analysis to keep you busy. I don't like the extra long left-side of the box in 'Nobu' and 'Yoshi'. I do like how generally that would be the 1st stroke but in the legitimate mei's it is the 3rd stroke, same as yours it appears to me. I suppose a talented copy artist could have figured that out as well eh? Lots of other stuff to consider though like kiku, and kanji spacing to Jacques point. Hard to tell anything from your blade pics. Here's a link to the Sanmei.com example w/ flamboyant hamon: http://www.sanmei.com/shop_e/enter.html ... lang=en-us Quote
