Brian Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Steve, Even if that had turned out to be real, you still shouldn't have bid on it. Even if it went for $20. Gotta start spending a few $100 on better stuff, going to get no-where looking for the low end junk tsuba. Leave those on eBay and spend some cash on a nice tsuba, you won't regret it. Brian Quote

loiner1965 Posted May 15, 2009 Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 looking at it and i have another pic somewhere on my pc...you can see the brass exposed on the rim edges and also quite clearly in the blade ana where it had been filed to fit.... how do the get the metal to patina so quick if its a copy or was it a old tsuba but just poor quality Quote
Grey Doffin Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Hi Steve, I have a bottle of brass aging solution I use to darken new furniture hardware to match the old (I build & repair furniture). I could patina a fake Chinese tsuba in a couple minutes. Spend lots of time looking at good stuff and then the fakes will stick out like a sore thumb. Grey Quote
loiner1965 Posted May 15, 2009 Author Report Posted May 15, 2009 cheers grey......fasinating how they age brass to look alot older....got to take your hat off to them for where theys a market theys a forgery Quote
