tradewater Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 My father returned from WW2 with a katana that was collected on Okinawa. I have inherited it and would like to find out as much as possible about it. I am including pictures of the tang and the inscription on it. Any further pictures you would like or need I would be happy to include. Thank you in advance for the help. Quote

Hi Randy, Obviously no further pics are needed for translation but, like others, I would be interested to see a couple of pics of the blade, tsuka and mounts. If you have time. Rob 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 I, too, would like to see the rest! Anyone recognize the floral image on the menugi? It's not sakura. So maybe this was a civilian purchase, re-fitted for the war? 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted August 15, 2022 Report Posted August 15, 2022 From here it looks like Maru ni Sasa-lindo. In the Edo Period it was used by the Ishikawa Lords of Kameyama Castle in Isé, (tracing their roots back to Genji). 2 1 Quote
