ianw Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Hi there, I was wondering if anyone is able to translate this inscription on the blade of my Kozuka? Thanks in advance. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 All I can see from that photo is 田代 一? 兼久 作 Tashiro Ichi? Kanehisa saku Quote
ianw Posted May 7, 2009 Author Report Posted May 7, 2009 Thanks for the reply although I should add that I am a complete novice and have no idea what that means. Quote

Well, the third illegible Kanji throws the first part of the name (upper two characters) into doubt for me. The lower part of the name is probably the following two characters Kane-hisa, and the final character means something like 'made this'. Look for Kanehisa in your sword books and see if you can find one that might match! Quote
SteveM Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Maybe its someone related to this smith (Kanemoto from Noshu)? http://lll.pro.tok2.com/sword/sdata69/gi401b.htm SteveM Quote
