jbeer1212 Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 Hey Folks, Sorry for the rushed pictures, its been busy around here as of late, and when work settles a bit I will take some better photos. I am curious your thoughts on this blade. It appears to be signed Masayoshi, but I can't quite make out the full signature. Any thoughts are appreciated. Cheers, Jeremy Over all the length is 84.5 cm and the cutting edge is about 66cm Quote

Mark S. Posted August 8, 2022 Report Posted August 8, 2022 To get you started, the left side of nakago I believe reads: Sakuyo Bakka Shi Hosokawa Masayoshi Tsukuru and then the Kao (stamped seal) in lower right. 1 Quote
Jacques Posted August 10, 2022 Report Posted August 10, 2022 Nakago jiri, yasurime, kao, and mei engraving are red flags. Quote

Can't speak to the rest, but the hotstamp (kao) does seem to be an imitation! I don't think I've ever seen someone try to fake a kao before, but this one is clearly not right. Observe the bottom character - it has a vertical line going all the way through, whereas the two in this example don't: 1 Quote
