nihonto1001 Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Here's mine: Attributed as den Kaifu. It's my favorite because of it unique sugata, a combination of katakiriha and shobu zukuri. The jihada is incredible, lending itself to an active sugaha hamon. Hopefully, the pics show this. Jon Quote
Brian Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Jon, If you are posting your favorite wakizashi...could I supply you with my address? Insured airmail would be great, thanks. I can see why you like it. Very unique and interesting indeed. Brian Quote

I don't mind, it is one of my favourites - a Soshu Hirotsugu. Oh, and could you perhaps post a pic of your Kiyomitsu? Another one of mine I really like is this Uda Kuninaga. Quote

nihonto1001 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Report Posted May 5, 2009 Thanks for posting. Just an interesting observation, it seems like our favorite wakizashis have something that make them stand out. Whether it is unique sugata, hamon or horimono, it is something different from the pragmatic beauty of a daito. I have found proof that my Kaifu Wakizashi is better than a Masamune. If nothing is better than a Masamume and a Kaifu Wakizashi is better than nothing, then there you have it. Jon Quote
Jacques Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Hi, My Rai Kinmichi, not the oldest, but my favorite. Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 My new favourite. It wasn't originally a wak. John Quote

raven2 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 My Favorite is my Yokoyama Kosuke Daijo Fujiwara Sukesada. Of course it is my only one and I just bought it this past weekend. . But I do love the hamon. Quote

John A Stuart Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Hi Jean, Yes, I got it last fall. As a Mino fan it has become my pride and joy. John Quote
Mark Green Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Wow John, that is very nice. I almost like the hadori done on that. Great tiny grouping of the 'cedar' !!!! I love that sword, classic. Great, powerful looking, little Sukesada too, Fred. My Bungo Shigeyuki has that same hamon. Very sexy! And you lucky guys with those sweet pole-weapon waks I need to get Dana san to let me take some pics of the two he has. Both, coverted polearms. Well done. One got close to 80 pts at shinsa. I'll work on that. Mark G Quote
shan Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 I Know you have all seen this one before and most don`t like it much, but it is my favourite for now (until the 3 come back from the togoshi). Its a lovely wakizashi to me and has a lot of hataraki. I will one day get around to offering it up for shinsa. My guess is its a late Koto blade. For all those who have not seen it before it is 25cm long and came in full wakizashi miniature mounts. I love it for its size Quote
Henry Wilson Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 I think this one is great. Too bad it has gone. http://www.finesword.co.jp/sale/touken/ ... de/511.htm Quote
