Paz Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 Hi all I'm wondering how much to offer for this blade on Facebook. I a m looking for a tanto. This is unpapered signed hikoshiro sadamune. However I think @Ray Singerhas beleived that this blade is possible Gimei. And the blade may be uda ,which fits into my collection. The horimono may have been done after. Here's the pics , I'm looking under 700usd maybe much more. Again there is no shinsa papers. But the seller is determined that its genuine work by sadamune. Thanks Quote
Rivkin Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 I have no idea why instead of a link people provide screenshots. The quality of horimono will be 90% of the price here. It needs to be seen high res. Quote
Bazza Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 No Shinsa papers, gimei. In fact, I have a faint memory that there are NO signed Sadamune blades in existence??? This likely an utsushimono. In any event, as Kirill notes, high resolution photos are required for this one. BaZZa. 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 The blade in question is signed with just a niji-mei of Sadamune (not signed Hikoshiro Sadamune). There are no authenticly signed examples of Soshu Sadamune, and believe just one example of a signed Takagi Sadamune (with a naga-mei). 2 Quote

WillFalstaff Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 I don’t know. Sounds too good to be true, but the price point, if it stays below 1K, might be worth it if you like the blade and horimono. I doubt its what the mei claims it is. Quote
Matsunoki Posted July 16, 2022 Report Posted July 16, 2022 Hi Paz i fully support buying things you like…..gimei or not! Like they say, buy the blade not the Mei. However I would have a long hard look at the horimono. The images you post are not great but the main figural carving looks pretty rough to me. Of course it could just be the poor quality of the image. Trouble is horimono were (are) often added to either conceal flaws or enhance the perceived value. They can look flashy at a distance but crap up close! Can you get better pics? Good luck! Colin Quote
Nihontocollector752 Posted July 17, 2022 Report Posted July 17, 2022 Please dont buy this. This is a broken blade that has been shaped into a "thing" Quote
RichardP Posted July 18, 2022 Report Posted July 18, 2022 It looks like the horimono tracks the shinogi pretty well, but the mune—not so much…? Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted July 18, 2022 Report Posted July 18, 2022 What makes you desire this particular blade? Quote

Brian Posted July 19, 2022 Report Posted July 19, 2022 Yeah, but then the hori was not well planned. Goes over the edge. 2 Quote
