Greetings,

I inherited this sword as is. Please let me know what I need to show to get an approximate age. The cutting edge is 24”. Tang is signed but impossible to make out from my perspective. From what we can see of the blade, the type of hamon does look similar to the sanbon-sugi of Kanemoto school, so possibly the blade dates to the 1500's. We would need to see more of the blade to confirm, such as the entire length, curvature, boshi (hamon in the tip), etc. The koshirae is newer, maybe late Edo. The tsukamaki wrap looks even newer, maybe re-wrapped at some point. Hope that helps.
