Brano Posted June 30, 2022 Report Posted June 30, 2022 My friend from Germany has stuck a few blades in Japan that he sent there for a new polish Has anyone had experience with transporting blades from Japan to Germany (or neighboring countries) in recent months? Land transport is not acceptable to my friend Tsuruta-san from AOI sends blades to Europe. However, he has a some special agreement with the carrier and he provides transport only for the blades he sells (which is quite logical) Thanks in advance Quote
DKR Posted June 30, 2022 Report Posted June 30, 2022 I get blades and Kodogu with UPS from Japan to Germany without problems or delays. It take 10 days for a blade and everything was fine. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted June 30, 2022 Report Posted June 30, 2022 Brano, if I am correctly informed, sending swords to Japan will require an agent with a special license to pass customs. If swords came back from a TOGISHI, I would assume that he also employed an agent in case he did not handle the shipping procedures himself. Others with much more experience in this field will certainly have the correct answers. 1 Quote

But I don't think it has to be a special person Polishing was done by Kenji Mishina and he tells a friend that he has no way to send the blades back to Germany Quote

Rivkin Posted July 8, 2022 Report Posted July 8, 2022 Option one: airmail (EMS) to the US, someone picking it up in the US and shipping any service to Germany. Option two: UPS. Requires special contract, but there is a considerable number of exporters in Japan who have those. I had issues with UPS. 1 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 8, 2022 Report Posted July 8, 2022 Agree with Kirill. UPS isn't reliable these days. 2 Quote
