John A Stuart Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Hi Nick, I have been trying to figure out the theme. It looks like Buddhist symbols. Did the seller have any ideas about it? John Quote

IanB Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Nick, The objects depicted are a riding whip of bamboo and a saihai with a paper tassel for signaling to troops. Ian Bottomley Quote
Guest nickn Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 thanks ian is the kozuka of any quality? nick Quote
shan Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Hi Nick, Does not look like any truly great quality and about the same as anything i have offered up and had shot down in flames. Perhaps quality is in the eye... so to speak. I like it though and i like the theme and have a F/K that would work well with this. Let me know if you decide to sell it on complete as i have a few Kogatana booked with a togoshi and i could squeeze this one in as well. Let that be a general request for any signed Kogatana blades that are traditionally forged and tempered. I am thinking of moving into a different direction and these do take a lot less space up. regards Shan Quote
Brian Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Motiff..no idea Quality... not bad. Not top quality of course, but reasonably good work, maybe late Edo with nice nanako of the wider spaced variety. Is it shakudo or iron? More views if you had sized the pics down below 800 wide..and put all 5 pics in one post. Better than average I would say. Brian Quote
Guest nickn Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 thanks shan & brian its made of shakudo i like the pointy hamon all my other kogatana have slightly undulating hamon although i do have one sihned kinmichi with sudareba Quote
