vittorio Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 ATTENTION Guys, http://www.armor8.com/ I received an E-Mail and visited the Page.Nice Swords for very little Money or better as Gift. I wanted to play the Game and asked to buy the Sokan that I remembered to have seen in a WEB Page of a serious dealer, same Numbers on the Papers ,same Sayagaki in short the same Blade but for much much more Money.(The right Money) They send me a quotation for shipping the Sword to Italy : 150 .- $ (!) I checked them shipping Price List and the Sword should weight 9 Kg. !! Something was " wrong with theirs PayPal (!) please send the Money to my Bank " I don't think PayPal know them. During this "negotiation" I wrote to the right dealer in the States and He,kindly, confirm that this Sword is still in California by the Owmer. Other pictures are stolen from Nihontoantiques.com. I think some of You know allready this Thiefs but other can fall in the trap. Sorry for my English. Akin Quote
Brian Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks for the reminder. Already spotted and outed. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3262 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2353 A search of the forum for their name will usually tell a lot about any dealer. The guys who own the pics should complain to their hosts (do a whois search) and have them banned. Brian Quote
raven2 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Just went to look at the site. Nice prices (lol) but you get what you pay for, or in this case not get. Quote
IanB Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Even funnier are the descriptions. I have just trawled through the armours, which include one that used to be in the Arashiyama Museum in Kyoto and another in the Pit-Rivers Museum in Oxford. Under each armour is some standard blurb about 'what you see is what you get', but they also include a sentence or two that is supposed to refer to the armour. One, a red laquered tatami gusoku (folding armour of plates and mail) burbles on about the dou being black lacquered with dark blue kebiki lacing. They are not only stealing images but lifting random text from catalogues and just inserting it at random. What a bunch. Ian Bottomley Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Pseudo-historical explanations are hilarious too. I ask myself if the site is registered in Japan... Quote
Goldy Posted April 4, 2009 Report Posted April 4, 2009 Wonder no more....you guessed it, China! I don't know if I should post the results of my internet search here so if you want the proof, PM me and I'll pass it on. There's no reason to not post it here as the info is available in the public domain, however, that doesn't stop people sueing just to keep you quiet. I know the site has been tracked down before but it doesn't hurt to let the world know again. Cheers, PS: Does anyone want the owners address and phone number? Quote
