                        Without seeing the crowns I would say a very well made silk reproduction.....Only my opinion and not a tassel expert just a collector..

It's an early tassel, longer and thinner than others. The crowns are different as well, which makes the usual method of confirming trickier.

                        Crowns don’t that tightly knit and material looks very bright so will hold on to my instinct and still say reproduction.....thanks for getting me thinking again...

Tassels in good condition like that are not uncommon in Japan, but if there is any doubt.....best to leave it. Plenty of easy to identify originals out there, the early ones break the mould a little for easy identification.

I'll go for genuine at this point, that is going by the photos provided.

Nearly all reproductions are copies of the standard tassel strap, this one happens to be the 'deluxe' version as can be seen when the strap is flat, and the colour facing you is bordered (along the edges) with the opposing colour.

The crowns did vary in size from what i've seen, especially with some generals tassels that were on swords with providence.

Difference could also be possibly due to different manufacturers at the time.

Can you get a photo of the overall complete tassel? That may help possibly.

Its over in two days....very low price now....we know how fast that changes at end. 

I appreciate everyone's feedback, the brown border was my gut feeling it is real also.

The larger slip (dont know its name) gave me pause.

Ill show when its over ither way.
