PNSSHOGUN Posted March 14, 2022 Report Posted March 14, 2022 Hey guys, we all like to find Tassels for our swords, but what about hangers? Considering every officer would use them with their sword, they aren't often sold with a sword. One potential reason is the hangers remained attached to the belt, so if the officer hadn't surrendered (willingly or otherwise) the whole rig, he likely kept the hanger. This would be a good chance to show: Swords that originally came with a hanger/belt Different examples of hangers (chain, leather, dress etc) 2 1 Quote

PNSSHOGUN Posted March 15, 2022 Author Report Posted March 15, 2022 Lovely examples so far, multichain hangers are always nice to see. These are mine, only one came attached - not 100% sure it is original to the sword. It is an older style Kyu Gunto hanger, listed as an adjustable cavalry sword hanger in Fuller & Gregory's, and Enlisted/Warrant Officer Kyu Gunto hanger in Jim Dawson's book. 6 Quote
Butch Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 Here is another one of mine this came attached to a war Trophy certificate sword . And this I have no doubt have always been together. Gareth 1 Quote

MarcoUdin Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 Very nice gathering Butch, I'm jealous Quote
Butch Posted March 15, 2022 Report Posted March 15, 2022 Thanks Marc yes I was lucky to get this one the wrap as gone like leather from use and when I received it the sword was solid couldn’t get it apart ... A small time dealer got it from the family of the soldier named on the certificate . He didn’t want to sell it originlly when he got it .. Quote
robinalexander Posted March 16, 2022 Report Posted March 16, 2022 My modest pair. From what I can see they are much the same as already posted with the possible exception of the hook on the platted leather hanger which has extreme wear....I'm thinking it's been around. 1 Quote

robinalexander Posted March 16, 2022 Report Posted March 16, 2022 Yes Bruce, I have to wonder why so many are in v/good condition and yet ones like this still pop up from time to time. Did they even need regular replacement (?) Why did this one miss out (?)....due to cost, lack of available new parts or lack of interest from owner (?). Whatever the reason, the only thing you could 'take to the bank' is that whoever used this, carried a sword regularly for long periods at a time. Its all in the mystery 😊 Rob 2 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 11 Author Report Posted December 11 A PSA regarding recent reproductions/fake chain hangers being sold from yahoo auctions, ebay, and other sources. These are being sold as originals by unscrupulous vendors. https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/l1164696466 https://page.auction.../auction/f1139030152 4 1 Quote
lonely panet Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 What makes you think there repro. Compare to this?? The shape of the belt clip? Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 12 Author Report Posted December 12 They are clearly brand new, the quality of the clips is different, the yahoo auction sellers other items are newly made fake fittings, and the ebay sellers are from China. Having foolishly bought one without closely looking at the photos and seller, the differences are night and day. Originals should have some signs of age, no matter how good the condition. 1 Quote
GeorgeLuucas Posted December 12 Report Posted December 12 Here’s the one that’s been in my collection for a while Cheers, -Sam 2 Quote

Tensho Posted Saturday at 03:34 AM Report Posted Saturday at 03:34 AM I came across these on ebay. Ones I saw from sellers were listed as copies/reproductions. Surprised to see such honesty. 1 Quote
