Hi all,

After about a month and a half, my first purchase of a Nihonto (Here) is complete ! Sword arrived today.

And I would really appreciate if you could help me get at least the basic stuff down... For the moment, I would like to make sure I get the Sori, Hamon, and maybe Hada right.

I quickly realized how difficult it is to take pictures of a sword... So for the Sori, vendor's image will do:

To me it looks like torii-zori, but I read a lot about sue-bizen, and saki-zori seems to be mentioned all the time... What do you guys think?

For the hamon, I would say nioi deki, mainly suguha based, mixed with o-notare??? Difficult to show but I can see some nioi-kuzure.

Then for the hada, I couldn't manage to take a good picture... Are you able to tell anything from this one? 🙄

All I can say is that it seems pretty fine, and that hiraji and shinogiji seem different... Is that even possible? Shinogiji looks like masame to me, and shinogiji maybe ko-itame??

Thanks in advance as usual 😉

Edit: my pictures don't show up... Don't know what I'm doing wrong 😕

For your question about Hada I can tell you that you are right. Masame in the Shinogi is a Shinto trait but the Momoyama Sukesada blades i have seen already have many of the Shinto traits.

For the Hamon would not say Notare it is more Midare with some changes for me.
I think Torizori is right but I have also seen Momoyama Sukesada with koshizori.
In the case of Bizen I would call the Hada Mokume instead of Itame.
This is just my opinion and I’m no expert.
