If anyone is interested in helping out a student of the hobby, I have enclosed a photo of a sayagaki for a Late Nambokuchu Yasuyoshi.

I think it is Nidai Yasuyoshi from Nagato to which it is referring.

I did much of the translation, but I am missing a few things:

1. In the second column, the 2 kanji above NAMBOKUCHU and below what I believe to be EIWA (1375).

2. The kanji just under YASUYOSHI in the second column.

3. In the first column, the line after what I believe to be Akishimi. I think it starts HA NAGASA...

I am actually surprised I got as far as I did with the Kanji Pages and sword ads. Great reference.

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Jon,

The kanji in the right column you are looking for read:

EI-WA: (-era, 1375 - 1379)

I: prefix

KO, o(riru) : (declining, later)

in the left column:

Ha-Nagasa: (length of cutting edge)

7 sun: (7 x 3.03cm)

I can't read the rest because of low resolution of the pic.

1. In the second column, the 2 kanji above NAMBOKUCHU and below what I believe to be EIWA (1375).

永和以降 (Eiwa iko) – after Eiwa

2. The kanji just under YASUYOSHI in the second column.

安吉 (Yasuyoshi nari) – (this) IS Yasuyoshi.

3. In the first column, the line after what I believe to be Akishimi. I think it starts HA NAGASA...

Something + 明示セリ (Meiji seri) – explicitly shows something

刃長七寸参分有之 (Hacho, shichi-sun san-bu ari kore) – Blade length is 7 sun 3 bu.
