Ray Singer Posted February 24, 2022 Report Posted February 24, 2022 I believe the Kanemoto reading is correct. Compare with an earlier example, also signed Kanemoto. 1 Quote
Jussi Ekholm Posted February 24, 2022 Report Posted February 24, 2022 I think the ownership might be - 大坪利夫所持 - I believe possible reading (not sure if it could be read in other ways) could be owned by Ōtsubo Toshio 1 1 Quote
AntiquarianCat Posted February 27, 2022 Report Posted February 27, 2022 If it is at all of use, I’m the custodian of a Hizen Kanemoto RJT blade and this is what the signature looks like. I would find it very interesting if your sword is by the same smith for a private order. I know this one’s signature goes Hizen no Kuni ju Kanemoto and is dated to Aug 1944. 3 Quote
Volker62 Posted February 28, 2022 Author Report Posted February 28, 2022 Hi Juan Thanks for sharing, looks a very nice sword, congrats! My custom order Kanemoto , has a beautiful shape and extremely high quality fittings and a nearly 28 cm long tsuka with little sori, with Ka Mon 2 Quote
AntiquarianCat Posted April 30, 2022 Report Posted April 30, 2022 I hope you’ll forgive the late reply as an annoying illness and real life kept me busy but your nice hizento inspired me to take a few photos of mine. To me they look quite similar and I would find it very cool if yours was a custom order counterpart to the RJT one I own. That would certainly explain why the fittings yours have look so splendid. I’m a fan of your habaki(and mon, and pretty much everything). I’ve always read about how many RJT smiths still did custom work during the war so it would be really interesting to compare that to their RJT swords. 1 1 Quote
