Thanks to @Stephen @kissakai @christianmalterre for the December fundraiser, I a now has a tsuba collection!

I really enjoy the mix of types, added to the tiger one I had previously due to a like of tigers at the time.

Now on to a lot more homework to find more about their styles, etc... really wish there was a "Connoisseurs Book of Japanese [Tsuba]" out there that covered it all.

Chris, I think Stephen King [Steves87has lots of images of the Jakushi dragon like yours - hope he comes in on the thread. The waterfall kaku-maru-gata is Shoami [Kanenori?], not sure who exactly, looks like only a part signature. Very good starter set for sure. [I can't say my first six were as good! :(]

Dale's right, the dragon is definitely Jakushi school.

Nice start.

Better start building some display shelves for the others you'll buy in the future...

I didn't build enough :)

A great first bunch of Tsuba.

The Jakushi dragon is quite a good example to what I have seen out there before. That particular design is common enough you will see a few a year, most with slight differences and most will be "Katana sized". If you come across a smaller waki or tanto size, get it, they are a lot more rare and I can only recall seeing two (my own being one of them).

As I mentioned to Dale, I resigned from my work in December and I had a bunch of Utsushi photos on my work computer. In lazy fashion (or not enough time fashion) I never properly catalogued them and it seems I missed transfering a folder on my work computer (which I definitely will not be going back to)

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
